In 2021 when we, Steve and Kathryn, took over Walnut Grove, we had a vision of wanting to ignite a spark of community-driven ethos that continued to radiate warmth and care. The reputation of the clinic preceded itself and it was important to continue that. We embarked on a mission to not just provide exceptional healthcare but to become an integral part of the community fabric, supporting both the NHS and locals alike.
With a vision to foster wellness that’s accessible to all we set out to investigate how we could make this happen and after several introductions to various people in the NHS, charities and other community interest companies (CIC), Walnut Grove Wellbeing CIC was born and is part of our social corporate responsibility and is the non-profit arm of the clinic. Recognising the need for more diverse class options, we embarked on a journey to create a repertoire of classes that catered to varying needs and interests. We were fortunate enough to meet Candy amongst all these introductions who shared a passion for the vision we were proposing so she came on board with the CIC.
Over the past 6 months, and a lot of hard work! We have been successful in securing grants from both the Portishead Town Council and the North Somerset UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund, they set the stage for transformative change. These grants not only provided financial support but also served as a testament to the community’s belief in our mission.
Through strategic partnerships and tireless efforts, Walnut Grove Wellbeing CIC is beginning to weave a tapestry of wellness initiatives, designed to uplift and empower individuals from all walks of life. From yoga for children to senior fitness classes and educational workshops, we aim to make wellness more accessible and achievable for everyone.
At the core of Walnut Grove Clinic’s journey lies a deep-rooted commitment to community, NHS support, and holistic wellbeing.

Stroke Rehabilitation – Let’s work at reprogramming. Research shows that exercise is one of the ways we can reprogram the brain after a stroke has occurred. Walnut Grove CIC is offering three FREE 10-week courses to help kick start the reprogramming, working towards an improved quality of life. Using functional exercises our instructor will guide you through a series of exercises incorporating strength, cardio and balance. Open to all levels – small group work but program tailored to individual requirements. Thursdays 11.45 am.
