Audiology

Independent audiology services including hearing tests, hearing aids and wax removal by microsuction - available at Walnut Grove Clinic, with no referral needed.
ABOUT THE THERAPY

What is Audiology?

Hearing loss is frustrating and isolating. It can be hereditary, a natural part of ageing, or triggered by noise exposure, infection, injury or the effects of certain medications. Whatever the cause, the good news is that there are solutions to successfully address most types of hearing loss, and you do not need to go anywhere other than Walnut Grove to access them.

Our audiology service is provided by Andrew Bird Hearing, an independent specialist practice that holds clinics here at Walnut Grove clinic. Because Andrew Bird Hearing is fully independent, our audiologist is able to recommend and dispense whichever hearing aid best suits your individual loss, not tied to any single manufacturer. All hearing aids are supplied with a 5-year manufacturer warranty, a 2-month return period, 5 years of aftercare appointments, and annual retests to keep your hearing aids performing at their best.

If you are an existing hearing aid user who is unhappy with your current service, you are very welcome to come to us.

Wax removal

GP practices have largely stopped offering wax removal, and in many areas this is unlikely to change. At Walnut Grove we are pleased to offer wax removal by micro suction, the patient-preferred technique, carried out here at the clinic. No referral needed and no need to travel elsewhere.

WHAT TO EXPECT

How improving your hearing helps you

Hearing loss is isolating. Here is what our patients typically experience once they take action.
01
Less frustration, less isolation
Untreated hearing loss quietly affects confidence, relationships and mental wellbeing. Addressing it can have a profound effect on quality of life - many patients describe it as genuinely life-changing.
02
Easier conversation with the people you love
Following group conversations, hearing clearly in noisy environments, and simply being present with family and friends without constantly asking them to repeat themselves - these are the everyday differences that matter most.
03
Discreet, modern solutions
Today's hearing aids are small, comfortable and highly effective. Many are virtually invisible in wear. The audiologist will take the time to find the right solution for your specific loss, your lifestyle and your preferences.
04
Ongoing support and aftercare
This is not a one-off appointment. Andrew Bird Hearing provides 5 years of aftercare appointments for all hearing aids dispensed at Walnut Grove, including annual retests and adjustments as your needs change.
