Lower Limb Rehabilitation
What is Lower Limb Rehabilitation?
Lower Limb Rehabilitation is a group exercise class designed to improve strength and mobility both before and after operations or injuries involving the lower limb, including hip and knee replacements. Whether you’re preparing for surgery or working through your recovery, the class helps you build the strength that makes a real difference to how well you do.
Each session runs for 45 minutes and is led by Tom, who guides the group through appropriate, targeted exercises tailored to lower limb recovery. Preparing your body before an operation, often called prehabilitation, can improve your outcome and speed up recovery, while the right exercise afterwards helps you rebuild strength, mobility and confidence safely.
The class runs as a 10-week course and is delivered by the Walnut Grove Wellbeing Community Interest Company. Working through recovery alongside others facing similar journeys makes the process more encouraging and less isolating, with expert guidance every step of the way.

Lower Limb Rehabilitation FAQs
Can I join before my operation, or only after?
Both. The class is designed to help before and after surgery. Preparing your body beforehand can improve your recovery, and the sessions equally support rebuilding strength once you’re ready after your operation or injury.
Is it suitable for hip and knee replacements specifically?
Yes. The class is designed around lower limb recovery, including hip and knee replacements, as well as other operations and injuries involving the lower limb. Exercises are appropriate and tailored to this kind of rehabilitation.
What should I wear and bring?
Wear comfortable, loose clothing you can move in and supportive flat shoes such as trainers. Bring a bottle of water, and any walking aid or support you’d normally use.
How much is it and how do I pay?
The course is £70.00 for 10 weeks. Contact reception to enquire about joining, current availability and start dates, and they’ll explain how payment works.
Do I need a referral from my doctor or surgeon?
It’s always sensible to check with your GP, surgeon or physiotherapist that group exercise is right for your situation before starting. Contact reception to discuss your circumstances and they’ll help you understand whether the class is a good fit.
