Senior Strong
What is Senior Strong?
Senior Strong is a gentle exercise class designed for older adults who want to build strength, mobility and fitness at a comfortable, manageable pace. Every movement is low impact and can be adapted to suit your ability, whether you are keeping active or returning to exercise after a break.
The class runs for 45 minutes and focuses on the things that matter most in later life, including balance, steadiness on your feet, functional strength for everyday tasks, and gentle cardiovascular fitness. There is no pressure to keep up and no experience needed, just movement that meets you where you are.
Just as important is what happens afterwards. Each session is followed by a 30-minute stay and chat, a relaxed chance to enjoy a hot drink and good company. Staying active is about connection as much as movement, and Senior Strong is as much a community as it is a class.
Payment is taken at the class. Call reception to find out about current availability and start dates.

What our Senior Strong students say
I like the way that Candy always explains the benefits to different parts of our bodies of each exercise, her delivery always with a smile and plenty of encouragement!
Always a good workout and great company all round - I always leave with a smile on my face and know I’ve done some good exercise.
Candy is so encouraging and makes the lessons a lot of fun. It is nice to meet the other people for coffee and a chat afterwards.
I really look forward to Candy's Senior Strong class each Monday morning. Candy always manages to make our experience interesting as well as fun! Somehow Candy manages to give us all individual encouragement as well as explaining how we get the most from each move safely.
Senior Strong FAQs
I haven't exercised in years. Is this class suitable for me?
Absolutely. Senior Strong is designed for all fitness levels, including complete beginners and those returning after a long break. Every exercise can be adapted, and you go at your own pace with no pressure to keep up.
Do I need to be able to get down to the floor?
No. The class is designed to be accessible, and most exercises can be done seated or standing. If anything doesn’t suit you, the instructor will offer an alternative.
What should I wear and bring?
Wear comfortable, loose clothing you can move in, and supportive flat shoes such as trainers. Bring a bottle of water. Everything else you need is provided.
How do I pay?
Payment is taken at the class, so there’s no need to book or pay in advance. Just come along, though we’d always recommend contacting reception first to check availability and start dates.
Do I have to stay for the chat afterwards?
Not at all, though you’re very welcome to. The 30-minute stay and chat is a relaxed, optional part of the session and a lovely way to meet others. Many members say it’s their favourite part of the day.
