Reflexology

Reflexology uses focused pressure on the feet, hands or face to ease tension, support the body's natural healing process and restore a sense of calm and balance.
ABOUT THE THERAPY

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a focused pressure technique applied to specific points on the feet, hands or face. Based on the principle that these points correspond to different organs, systems and structures throughout the body, reflexology aims to promote relaxation, improve circulation and support the body’s own capacity to heal and rebalance.

Treatment is gentle, non-invasive and deeply relaxing. Sessions work on the whole person rather than a single symptom, making reflexology as relevant for those managing stress, poor sleep or hormonal imbalance as it is for those simply looking for a moment of stillness in a busy life. Many patients notice a tangible shift in how they feel, both physically and mentally, after even a single session.

Reflexology sits within a broader tradition of holistic therapy that treats mind, body and spirit as inseparable. At Walnut Grove it is offered as a standalone treatment and as a complement to other therapies, supporting your overall wellbeing alongside whatever else you may be doing to look after your health.

WHAT TO EXPECT

How Reflexology helps you

Reflexology works with the whole person, not just the presenting symptom. Here is what our patients typically experience.
01
Deep relaxation and stress relief
One of the most immediate and consistent effects of reflexology is a profound sense of relaxation. By calming the nervous system and releasing physical tension, it creates the conditions the body needs to rest, recover and rebalance.
02
Better sleep and improved energy
Patients often report sleeping more deeply after reflexology, and a gradual improvement in energy levels over a course of treatment. When the body is less burdened by stress and tension, it simply functions better.
03
Support for hormonal and emotional balance
Reflexology is widely used to support conditions linked to hormonal fluctuation, including menstrual irregularity, perimenopause and stress-related emotional symptoms. It does not replace medical treatment but can be a meaningful part of how you manage your overall wellbeing.
04
A genuine pause from everyday life
Not every benefit needs to be clinical. Sometimes the most valuable thing a therapy can offer is an hour of focused, unhurried attention on how you are feeling. Reflexology does that consistently and without exception.

That is a fair question. The evidence base for reflexology is not the same as for clinically regulated treatments, and we would not suggest otherwise. What we can say is that many patients experience genuine and sometimes significant benefits, particularly around stress, sleep and general wellbeing. Whether that is the result of specific reflex points or the deeply restorative effect of skilled, attentive touch, the outcomes speak for themselves.

No. Reflexology can be applied to the feet, hands or face. If you have a foot-related condition, feel uncomfortable with foot contact, or simply prefer a different approach, just mention it when you book and your therapist will work with you.

Mostly very relaxing. Your therapist applies firm but gentle pressure to specific points, working methodically through the relevant areas. Some points may feel more sensitive than others, which can itself be informative, but treatment should never be painful. Most patients find it hard to stay awake.

Reflexology can be a wonderful support during pregnancy, helping with relaxation, sleep and some of the physical discomforts that come with it. Please let us know you are pregnant when booking so your therapist can adapt the session appropriately.

Many people find it genuinely helpful, and for some it is a significant part of how they manage anxiety day to day. It is not a clinical treatment for anxiety disorders, but the deeply calming effect of a session, and the cumulative benefit of regular treatment, can make a real difference to how you feel. If anxiety is something you are managing, it is worth a conversation with your therapist before or at your first appointment.
